SANAM RAMKISSOON BSOCSC (HONS)
Hello there! I'm Sanam Ramkissoon, an experienced autism practitioner with nearly a decade of dedicated work in the field. I hold an Honors degree in Psychology and Criminology&Forensic Studies through Howard University (UKZN), which has provided me with a unique perspective in understanding and supporting children on the autism spectrum.
Throughout my journey, I have gained expertise in various best practice methods to assist individuals on the spectrum, including ESDM, SCERTS, TEACCH, DIR Floortime, Social Skills, Behavior Management, PECS, Sensory Integration Support and Play Therapy. These approaches have allowed me to tailor interventions to meet the diverse needs of each child I work with.
My passion for helping children on the spectrum has taken me on incredible adventures across Asia and Europe, where I have gained valuable knowledge on how to meet the needs of children and their families. I have settled in South Africa, specifically in the Western Cape, to fill a niche for services that are not readily available in the area by starting The Indigo Initiative.
At The Indigo Initiative, we aim to provide help and guidance to parents who often find themselves in the dark when their children begin to present signs and symptoms of autism. Our goal is to assist families in understanding the steps involved in supporting their children to reach their full potential and gain access to opportunities.
As a goal-oriented, driven, and adventurous person, I bring a creative and enthusiastic approach to my work. I strive to create a calm and supportive environment for both children and their families. In my spare time, I enjoy sampling different types of cuisines (which is just a fancy way of saying I love eating!), learning about different people and cultures, gaining knowledge through travel, and embarking on outdoor adventures. I'm always excited to try new things and embrace new experiences.
If you're seeking guidance or support for your child on the autism spectrum, We are here to help!
ORIELLE KALLIE BA PSYCHÂ (HONS)
Hello there! I'm Orielle Kallie, a qualified autism practitioner with a deep passion for working with individuals with ASD and related disorders. With several years of hands-on experience, I have honed my skills and knowledge to provide comprehensive support to individuals and their families.
I hold an Honours degree in Psychology and Counselling, which has equipped me with a solid foundation in understanding the complexities of human behavior and emotions. Prioritizing clients and delivering exceptional therapy is imperative to me, as I recognize the importance of investing in our future generations. There are not nearly enough services available for individuals on the spectrum and as a result, our children are often overlooked in society.
When offered the opportunity to be a part of The Indigo Initiative in Cape Town, I was excited to contribute in whatever way possible to ensure that more children receive access to services in this field. My goal is to provide much-needed relief for families with children on the spectrum by offering guidance and assistance, ultimately helping them build a bright and fulfilling future.
My journey in the field of autism began while pursuing my Honours degree. This allowed me to combine my academic pursuits with practical experience. Caring for children has always been my passion, making the decision to pursue it as a career an easy one. Throughout my journey, I have been fortunate to learn various techniques, including ESDM, TEACCH, DIR Floortime, Behavior Management, Play Therapy, Sensory Integration Support, Social Skills, and PECS while working with different organisations.
I'm a person who has a deep passion for learning about a wide range of topics. From science to history, I love expanding my knowledge and exploring new ideas. When I'm not diving into books or online resources, you can often find me at the cinema, enjoying the magic of storytelling on the big screen. I get the occasional adrenaline fix through go kart racing which is a guilty pleasure of mine! However, nothing compares to the joy I feel when spending time with my family, especially my two adorable nephews. Their laughter and curiosity bring so much happiness to my life. So, whether I'm expanding my knowledge, enjoying a thrilling race, or simply surrounded by loved ones, I strive to make the most out of every experience.
I am thrilled to be making a positive impact in the lives of children with autism and their families. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about how I can assist you, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's work together to create a brighter future!
